The group I play with is partially virtual and partially sitting together at a table. We’ve been using VTTs even though most are sitting together. Out hope was to have only the DM running the VTT while displaying the map, etc. on the table so the in person players could forgo the use of computers while still keeping our online players completely in the loop. Could there be a way to have the DM running 2 separate tabs of RealmVTT on the same computer, one of which is a player view?
Or, another idea… could the DM run 2 accounts simultaneously? One for DMing and the other as a player page?
Love this idea! My brother in law made us a display that i run your vtt on. Current set up works pretty well, but a dm and player view would be great so they dont accidentally see what i have hidden?
Hi there! Actually - yes this would work! You could have one window open with your DM account, and then another window open logged in as another account, and projecting the player view.
That would be better than trying to project the DM view since it would reveal more of the map than wanted.
I just tried it out with a secondary account and I believe it worked! Thanks!
Awesome! No problem. Let me know if you encounter anything weird when doing that, or have any suggestions on how to improve the use case ![]()
Here’s another one. Roll20 just implemented Map Pins which have been really handy. Is there any way to add that functionality to RealmVTT?
Hi there! Yes! You can drag most entries to the map - we do “pins” via Journal Entries.
Just drag a Journal from the Compendium to the Map and it’ll place a “pin” there that only the GM can see. It will name it based on the current page you are open at. Clicking that link will then open that journal entry at the page.
You can also right-click a journal pin to edit the name or page number.

Btw - you can also drag Items / Spells / etc. to the map, which adds them there as a token. I do this often to track things such as a player’s use of Spiritual Weapon.
Ok! Awesome. I had set up a campaign on Roll 20 prior to finding this VTT and my group is going to finish the campaign there since I already did so much leg work. Then we’re going to move here and give it a go! I’ve been really impressed with what I’ve seen here. Love that this feature is available. Thanks for being so responsive as well!
No problem, and thanks so much! We’ll have some exciting announcments mid-to-late Spring, too so keep an eye out for that ![]()
